Sandwich bar ideas that work for a crowd come down to four setups: a hot pulled pork slider bar ($214 for 40 guests), an Italian beef and French roll bar (from $113.98), a cold deli bar built on a Deli Platter at $95, or a pinwheel spread at $79 for 60 pieces. Each comes from Upper Crust trays that you pick up in Yorkville, or have delivered, and there is no minimum on trays.

Idea 1: a pulled pork slider bar

BBQ Pulled Pork is $95 a tray and serves 20. Slider Sandwich Buns are $12 for 24. For 40 guests that is 2 pork trays and 2 bun trays, $190 + $24 = $214. Put it in chafing dishes and let guests build their own. The full plan is in pulled pork sliders for a crowd.

Idea 2: an Italian beef bar

Italian Beef Au Jus is $90 a tray in the smaller size and $150 in the larger. Fresh Baked French Rolls are $11.99 a dozen. The smaller tray with two dozen rolls is $90 + $23.98 = $113.98. Tell us your headcount when you order and we will say which beef size matches it. Serve with a Chafing Dish Set, $17 for each hot dish, and the jus stays warm for dipping.

Idea 3: a cold deli bar

For a lunch where nobody wants a hot line, order a Deli Platter, $95, and a Sandwich Platter, $79. We do not list fillings or toppings on the menu, so ask what comes on each tray when you order. Add Fresh Baked French Rolls for build-your-own sandwiches. For lunches where guests eat at a desk, Boxed Lunches start at $14.50 each, with a 20-box minimum. The full price list for sandwiches is in ham sandwiches and sandwich platters.

Idea 4: a pinwheel and finger sandwich spread

Pinwheel Sandwiches are $79, 60 pieces. Assorted Finger Sandwiches are $89, 60 pieces. Both are easy to eat standing up, which makes them the choice for open houses and showers.

Sides for any sandwich bar

One side tray per 20 guests is our planning guide. Dessert can be Brownies at $59 for 35 or Assorted Home Baked Cookies at $45 for 40.

Setup that makes a bar work

  • Put the bread at the front of the line and the sides at the end.
  • Give each hot dish its own serving spoon or tongs: $1 each.
  • Set plates, napkins and silverware at $1.50 a person.
  • For 60 guests or more, make two lines.
  • Keep cold trays covered until the line starts.

Prices are before 9.25% sales tax. Order about three days ahead. Browse the platters menu or the corporate lunches page, then send your count through the quote form. Call (630) 553-9533.

Questions

How much bread do I need for a sandwich bar?

Plan one roll or bun per sandwich and a few extra. French rolls come by the dozen, buns by the tray of 24.

Can I mix hot and cold sandwiches?

Yes. A hot pork or beef tray beside a cold platter gives guests a choice.

Is there a minimum?

No. Trays and platters have no minimum and there is no small-party surcharge.
