What to know before you order

Getting to Joliet

At twenty-four miles, Joliet is in our $50 band. The fee is the same for any size order, so it weighs least on a buffet for 50 or more. For a small tray order, you may prefer to pick up at 109 East Hydraulic Avenue in Yorkville. Call (630) 553-9533 three days ahead for trays and boxed lunches, two weeks for anything with servers.

Graduation parties and big family gatherings

Joliet graduation parties and family reunions are the kind of crowd Buffet Menu 1 was built for: $18.99 per person, two entrees, three sides and bread, with a 20-guest minimum (see Buffet Menu 1). Pan fried chicken, baked mostaccioli and BBQ pulled pork are the crowd favorites; baked ham with honey mustard glaze is a good fourth for a Sunday. Chafing dishes are $17 per hot dish, place settings $1.50 per person. For 100 or more, servers at $35 per hour with a four-hour minimum keep the line moving and pack the leftovers; there is a 20% service charge on staffed events. Our guide to feeding 50 people shows the quantities.

Funeral luncheons at a church hall or home

After a service, the family needs a warm meal that is already set out when they walk in (see Funeral luncheons). Call us and we will tell you what we can do on your notice. The usual is herb roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, buttered green beans and dinner rolls, delivered hot in chafers. By the tray (see Entrées & Sides by the Tray), herb roasted chicken is $80 for 20 pieces, Yankee pot roast $125, mashed potatoes $49, green beans $49 and dinner rolls $9.99 a dozen.

Lunch for crews along I-80 and I-55

For the warehouses and offices near the interstates, boxed lunches are $14.50 and $16.50 with a 20-box minimum (see Boxed Lunches), or a deli platter at $95 and a sandwich platter at $79 for a crew that builds its own (see Hors d'oeuvres & Platters). A breakfast tray at $69 serves 20 (see Breakfast & Brunch). The driver texts five minutes out.

What our customers say

“My wife and I had Upper Crust for our wedding. They did an absolutely fantastic job! Extremely professional, great communication, fantastic food, great service, and they are very willing to do the little details if needed (flexible!). They made us feel less stressed, we could trust them, and we feel like we received great value for the price we paid. I would recommend this caterer to anyone!!”

“We had some catering done by Upper Crust for our son's high school graduation. We had used them previously for a wedding reception as well. The food is always excellent and there were so many people who said how good it was. I have always been impressed with this company. They are kind and courteous and will always answer all your questions. Great job!!!”

Questions

Catering in Joliet, answered

More in the full FAQ, or call (630) 553-9533.

Do you deliver to all of Joliet, including the east side past Route 53?
Yes. Every Joliet address is $50. For towns beyond Joliet, call with the address; Joliet is the edge of our regular area to the southeast.
Should we pick up in Yorkville instead of paying $50?
For a party of 40 or more, the $50 is about a dollar a person and delivery with set-up is worth it. For two or three trays, the drive out Route 126 is twenty-four miles each way and pick-up can make sense. Your call; we are happy either way.
Can you set up a buffet in a Joliet church hall or park pavilion?
Yes. Give us the hall, the room and when guests arrive. Chafers run on sternos, so a pavilion without power is fine.
How much is catering delivery to Joliet?
Delivery to Joliet is a flat $50. That covers the drive (about 48 minutes from our Yorkville kitchen), set-up of a buffet, and the driver texting you when they are five minutes away. Pick-up at 109 E Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville is free.
How far ahead should I book for an event in Joliet?
3 days for a drop-off order and 14 days for a staffed event is comfortable. Weddings and graduation weekends in May and June book months out; funeral luncheons we can often do with a day's notice.
Can you deliver food to my office?
Yes. Boxed lunches, hot buffets and breakfast arrive at the delivery time you choose. We deliver across Kendall, Kane, Will and DuPage counties.
Some guests have allergies or dietary restrictions. What do I do?
Tell us in advance. Our chefs prepare separate meals for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal or allergy-specific guests. There is a dietary notes box on every order.
Can you provide staff for my event?
Certainly. Our servers set up and maintain the buffet, clear tables, and break down and pack your leftovers. Staff is $35 per hour per server with a four-hour minimum, plus a 20% service charge shared with the whole team.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. Weddings take a 20% deposit of the estimated cost. Other events take 25%, paid online when you accept the quote. Deposits are non-refundable and are credited toward your balance, which is due seven days before the event.
