Catering in Elmhurst, IL

Elmhurst is at the eastern edge of DuPage County, thirty-five miles from our Yorkville kitchen, usually I-88 east and then north through the suburbs. It is the farthest of our DuPage stops, so we treat the timing carefully: the route is planned the night before, and the driver texts when five minutes out. Delivery to Elmhurst is quoted by distance when you order, and pick-up at 109 E Hydraulic Ave is always an option. A funeral luncheon is the first use we cover below.

What to know before you order

A funeral luncheon the family does not have to cook

A funeral luncheon is a plain, warm meal for people who have traveled. Buffet Menu 1 at $18.99 per person offers herb roasted chicken, baked mostaccioli, meat loaf and more, with sides and bread. Buffets start at 20 guests. Our funeral luncheon page explains how to choose a menu and what to expect on the day. Standard orders need three days' notice, so call as early as you can and we will tell you what is possible.

Trays for a smaller family gathering

For 20 to 40 people at a family home, trays are simpler than a buffet. Yankee pot roast is $125 and serves 20, baked mostaccioli is $45 or $75, and meatless mostaccioli is $39 or $65. Add tossed mixed greens at $49, mashed potatoes at $49 and dinner rolls and butter at $9.99 a dozen. Chafing dishes are $17 each and yours to keep. Trays have no minimum, so a gathering of 20 does not need to pay for a buffet.

Cold platters for visitors who stop by

People drift in over a day or two, and cold food works well for that. The sandwich platter is $79, the assorted cheese tray with crackers is $69 for 60 pieces, and the seasonal fresh fruit display is $74. Cookies are $45 for 40 and lemon bars are $59 for 40 pieces. Trays and platters have no minimum and no service charge when dropped off. A pick-up order from Yorkville is also possible.

What our customers say

“My wife and I had Upper Crust for our wedding. They did an absolutely fantastic job! Extremely professional, great communication, fantastic food, great service, and they are very willing to do the little details if needed (flexible!). They made us feel less stressed, we could trust them, and we feel like we received great value for the price we paid. I would recommend this caterer to anyone!!”

“We had some catering done by Upper Crust for our son's high school graduation. We had used them previously for a wedding reception as well. The food is always excellent and there were so many people who said how good it was. I have always been impressed with this company. They are kind and courteous and will always answer all your questions. Great job!!!”

Catering in Elmhurst, answered

More in the full FAQ, or call (630) 553-9533.

How quickly can you arrange a funeral luncheon?
Our standard lead time is three days. If your date is sooner, call (630) 553-9533 and ask. We cannot promise what the schedule will allow until we know the day, the count and the menu.
Can we pick up the food ourselves?
Yes, pick-up at 109 E Hydraulic Ave in Yorkville is always an option and avoids a delivery quote. For Elmhurst the drive is about thirty-five miles each way, so many families choose delivery. We quote it when you order.
Do you have options for guests who cannot eat gluten?
Chicken oreganato by the tray is gluten free at $80, serving 20, and baked salmon with fresh herb sauce on the Buffet Menu 3 list is gluten free. We cannot guarantee any dish is free of trace amounts, so tell us each allergy.
How much is catering delivery to Elmhurst?
Delivery to Elmhurst is a flat $87.5. That covers the drive (about 70 minutes from our Yorkville kitchen), set-up of a buffet, and the driver texting you when they are five minutes away. Pick-up at 109 E Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville is free.
How far ahead should I book for an event in Elmhurst?
3 days for a drop-off order and 14 days for a staffed event is comfortable. Weddings and graduation weekends in May and June book months out; funeral luncheons we can often do with a day's notice.
Can you deliver food to my office?
Yes. Boxed lunches, hot buffets and breakfast arrive at the delivery time you choose. We deliver across Kendall, Kane, Will and DuPage counties.
Some guests have allergies or dietary restrictions. What do I do?
Tell us in advance. Our chefs prepare separate meals for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal or allergy-specific guests. There is a dietary notes box on every order.
Can you provide staff for my event?
Certainly. Our servers set up and maintain the buffet, clear tables, and break down and pack your leftovers. Staff is $35 per hour per server with a four-hour minimum, plus a 20% service charge shared with the whole team.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. Weddings take a 20% deposit of the estimated cost. Other events take 25%, paid online when you accept the quote. Deposits are non-refundable and are credited toward your balance, which is due seven days before the event.
