Graduation party catering: feed the whole family, then sit down with them

May and June book up fast. Our buffets come with the food portioned for your headcount, and chafers and place settings are a small add-on, so you set it out and enjoy the party. Pulled pork, mostaccioli and fried chicken are the crowd favorites.

What graduation party catering costs

Buffet Menu 1 is $18.99 per person: two entrées, three sides and bread, portioned for your headcount, with a 20-guest minimum. Buffet Menu 2 is $19.99 and Buffet Menu 3 is $20.99. Plates, napkins and silverware add $1.50 per person and a chafing dish is $17 per hot dish. Delivery starts at $40, or pick up at our Yorkville kitchen. Sales tax is 9.25%.

If your crowd will come and go all afternoon, trays are the other route. They are priced per tray, most serve about 20, and you can order exactly what your family eats.

Sample buffet for 50, 100 and 150

Buffet Menu 1 food cost:

  • 50 guests: $949.50
  • 100 guests: $1,899.00
  • 150 guests: $2,848.50

Add $1.50 per person for plates, napkins and silverware ($75, $150 or $225) and $17 per chafing dish. With pulled pork, mostaccioli and mac and cheese kept hot, that is three chafers, $51. For 100 guests the subtotal is $1,899 + $150 + $51 = $2,100, or $21.00 a person before delivery and tax.

Want fried chicken instead? Pan Fried Chicken is on the same menu at the same price.

Sample tray spread for 50

Total $881, about $17.62 a person for 50. Plates, napkins and silverware are $1.50 per person and chafers $17 per hot tray. Pick up in Yorkville and there is no delivery fee. Tax is extra.

Timing for May and June

  • Drop-off orders need three days' notice. Staffed parties need 14 days.
  • Weekends in late May and early June fill first. If your date is set, get a quote now and hold it with a 25% deposit. The balance is due seven days before.
  • Give us a final headcount a few days out. Graduation parties always have a cousin or two nobody counted, and we would rather you order a touch over than run out.

Add a cold table or dessert

Open houses run long, so a cold table helps between waves of guests. A Cheese & Sausage Tray with Crackers is $79 for 120 pieces, Fresh Vegetable Crudités $59, a Seasonal Fresh Fruit Display $74, and a Watermelon Wedge Platter $59 when it is in season. For dessert, Chocolate Drizzled Mini Cream Puffs are $45 for 50 and Cheesecake Squares $59 for 35. Iced Tea, Punch or Lemonade is $89 for 50 servings with cups.

What graduation parties clients said

Jun 2, 2021

“We had some catering done by Upper Crust for our son's high school graduation. We had used them previously for a wedding reception as well. The food is always excellent and there were so many people who said how good it was. I have always been impressed with this company. They are kind and courteous and will always answer all your questions. Great job!!!”

Questions

Asked before every graduation partie

More in the full FAQ, or just call (630) 553-9533.

How much food do I need for a graduation party?
On a buffet we portion the food for the headcount you give us, so order for the number you expect plus a few. On trays, most serve about 20, so for 50 guests order two to three of each main dish. Our guide to graduation party food for 50, 100 or 150 guests works through the numbers.
How far in advance should I book a June graduation party?
As soon as the date is set. Late May and early June weekends go first. Drop-off orders need at least three days' notice and staffed parties 14 days, but popular dates are gone well before that.
Buffet or trays, which is cheaper?
For 50 guests a Buffet Menu 1 spread is $18.99 a person plus $1.50 for place settings; a pulled pork and mostaccioli tray spread works out around $17.62 a person. Trays are a little cheaper and you can pick them up. The buffet is portioned for you and comes with more variety.
Do you deliver to park pavilions and backyards?
Yes. Give us the address and a phone number for the day, and tell us if there is no power or shade, so we bring chafers to keep the food hot.
Can you keep the food warm for a three-hour open house?
Chafing dishes are $17 per hot dish and come with two sternos and a water pan. If the party runs longer than that, tell us and we will plan for it.
Do you handle vegetarian and allergy needs?
Yes. Meatless Mostaccioli, salads and Garden Vegetable Primavera are easy vegetarian picks, and the kitchen prepares gluten-free or allergy plates separately when you tell us in advance.
