Sugar Grove is ten miles straight north of our kitchen on Route 47, where it meets Route 56 and I-88. It is a town of newer subdivisions, old farmsteads and a community college campus, and we cater all three: summer parties in big yards, lunches for meetings near the interstate, and family dinners. What to know before you order

Straight up Route 47

There is no simpler run from our kitchen. Route 47 leaves downtown Yorkville and runs north into Sugar Grove without a turn. For pick-up, the same road brings you to 109 East Hydraulic Avenue, a block from the Fox River, with no delivery charge.

Summer parties with room to spread out

Sugar Grove yards are big, and the parties match. For a graduation or a July cookout for 40, the crowd pleaser is BBQ (see Entrées & Sides by the Tray): BBQ pulled pork at $95 a tray with slider buns at $12 for 24, chicken drummettes, spicy or teriyaki, at $100 for 120 pieces, BBQ baked beans at $49, creamy cole slaw at $55 and a seasonal watermelon wedge platter at $59. Or let us do the whole buffet: Buffet Menu 1 at $18.99 per person with BBQ chicken and pulled pork as the two entrees (see Buffet Menu 1). Chafers at $17 per hot dish keep everything warm on a deck.

Meetings and trainings near the I-88 interchange

For a morning meeting we deliver a Continental Breakfast at $11.99 per person, fruit and sweet breads with plates included, or the Basic Breakfast Buffet at $16.99 with eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries and fruit (see Breakfast & Brunch). Coffee is $89 for 50 cups with sugar, creamer and stirrers. For lunch, boxed lunches at $14.50 and $16.50 with a 20-box minimum arrive at the time you set (see Boxed Lunches). Three days' notice, please.

Fall and holiday dinners

When the corn comes down, Sugar Grove orders turn to pot roast and pork. Buffet Menu 2 at $19.99 per person has Yankee pot roast, roasted pork loin with apple cider sauce and cranberry glazed chicken with stuffing (see Buffet Menu 2). Our Thanksgiving Dinner is $22.99 per person, minimum six, ordered by November 19 and picked up at the kitchen on November 25, a straight drive down Route 47 (see Thanksgiving Dinner).

What our customers say

“My wife and I had Upper Crust for our wedding. They did an absolutely fantastic job! Extremely professional, great communication, fantastic food, great service, and they are very willing to do the little details if needed (flexible!). They made us feel less stressed, we could trust them, and we feel like we received great value for the price we paid. I would recommend this caterer to anyone!!”

“We had some catering done by Upper Crust for our son's high school graduation. We had used them previously for a wedding reception as well. The food is always excellent and there were so many people who said how good it was. I have always been impressed with this company. They are kind and courteous and will always answer all your questions. Great job!!!”

Questions

Catering in Sugar Grove, answered

More in the full FAQ, or call (630) 553-9533.

We are on a rural road outside the village limits. Is delivery still $40?
The $40 covers Sugar Grove addresses. If you are out on a farm road between towns, call (630) 553-9533 with the address and we will confirm it before you order.
Can you cater an outdoor party at a barn or in the yard with no power?
Yes. Our chafing dishes run on sternos, not electricity, so hot food stays hot for hours. If you want someone to run the buffet, servers are $35 per hour with a four-hour minimum and need two weeks' notice.
We need lunch for 30 at a training by noon. How does that work?
Call three days ahead with your head count and up to four sandwich choices. Boxed lunches are $14.50 or $16.50 each. Tell us noon, and the driver plans to be there before it and texts when five minutes out.
How much is catering delivery to Sugar Grove?
Delivery to Sugar Grove is a flat $40. That covers the drive (about 20 minutes from our Yorkville kitchen), set-up of a buffet, and the driver texting you when they are five minutes away. Pick-up at 109 E Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville is free.
How far ahead should I book for an event in Sugar Grove?
3 days for a drop-off order and 14 days for a staffed event is comfortable. Weddings and graduation weekends in May and June book months out; funeral luncheons we can often do with a day's notice.
Can you deliver food to my office?
Yes. Boxed lunches, hot buffets and breakfast arrive at the delivery time you choose. We deliver across Kendall, Kane, Will and DuPage counties.
Some guests have allergies or dietary restrictions. What do I do?
Tell us in advance. Our chefs prepare separate meals for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal or allergy-specific guests. There is a dietary notes box on every order.
Can you provide staff for my event?
Certainly. Our servers set up and maintain the buffet, clear tables, and break down and pack your leftovers. Staff is $35 per hour per server with a four-hour minimum, plus a 20% service charge shared with the whole team.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. Weddings take a 20% deposit of the estimated cost. Other events take 25%, paid online when you accept the quote. Deposits are non-refundable and are credited toward your balance, which is due seven days before the event.
