What to know before you order

Over to the river at Batavia

Batavia is our last $40 town on the Fox River going north; Geneva, next door, is $45 because of the extra miles. Order trays and boxed lunches three days ahead, staffed events two weeks ahead, by calling (630) 553-9533.

Rehearsal dinners and family parties

A rehearsal dinner or an anniversary dinner at home in Batavia usually calls for Buffet Menu 2 or 3. Menu 2 is $19.99 per person with chicken piccata, chicken marsala, Yankee pot roast or our famous seasoned pork chops (see Buffet Menu 2). Menu 3 is $20.99 with chicken cordon bleu, baked filet of cod and carved sirloin with natural jus; braised beef brisket or baked salmon with fresh herb sauce add $1.50 per person (see Buffet Menu 3). If you want the sirloin carved in front of your guests, on-site carving is $150. Servers are $35 per hour with a four-hour minimum and a 20% service charge, and they pack your leftovers before they leave.

Showers and christenings

For a shower, the Shower Package is $21.99 per person with croissant sandwiches, tropical bowtie Caesar, pinwheels, a spinach bread bowl and a fruit display (see Shower Package). Add a dessert tray if you like (see Hors d'oeuvres & Platters): cheesecake squares at $59 for 35, lemon bars at $59 for 40, or chocolate covered strawberries at $69.

Lunch for the business parks along Kirk Road and Fabyan Parkway

Boxed lunches are $14.50 and $16.50 with a 20-box minimum, delivered at the time you set (see Boxed Lunches). For a working breakfast, a vegetarian breakfast tray or a ham, sausage and cheddar tray is $69 and serves 20, and coffee is $89 for 50 cups with cups, sugar and creamer (see Breakfast & Brunch).

“My wife and I had Upper Crust for our wedding. They did an absolutely fantastic job! Extremely professional, great communication, fantastic food, great service, and they are very willing to do the little details if needed (flexible!). They made us feel less stressed, we could trust them, and we feel like we received great value for the price we paid. I would recommend this caterer to anyone!!”

“We had some catering done by Upper Crust for our son's high school graduation. We had used them previously for a wedding reception as well. The food is always excellent and there were so many people who said how good it was. I have always been impressed with this company. They are kind and courteous and will always answer all your questions. Great job!!!”

Questions

Catering in Batavia, answered

More in the full FAQ, or call (630) 553-9533.

Why is Batavia $40 when Geneva is $45?
Our fees are set by distance from the Yorkville kitchen. Batavia at seventeen miles is inside the $40 band; Geneva at twenty is the first town in the $45 band.
Can you cater a rehearsal dinner in a backyard on the river in Batavia?
Yes. We bring the food hot in chafers that run on sternos, so you do not need an outlet near the table. Plates, napkins and silverware are $1.50 per person, and servers are available at $35 per hour with a four-hour minimum.
Can we pick up in Yorkville to save the fee?
You can. The kitchen is at 109 East Hydraulic Avenue in downtown Yorkville, Route 47 south from I-88. At seventeen miles each way the $40 is often worth it, but for a couple of cold platters the drive is reasonable.
How much is catering delivery to Batavia?
Delivery to Batavia is a flat $40. That covers the drive (about 34 minutes from our Yorkville kitchen), set-up of a buffet, and the driver texting you when they are five minutes away. Pick-up at 109 E Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville is free.
How far ahead should I book for an event in Batavia?
3 days for a drop-off order and 14 days for a staffed event is comfortable. Weddings and graduation weekends in May and June book months out; funeral luncheons we can often do with a day's notice.
Can you deliver food to my office?
Yes. Boxed lunches, hot buffets and breakfast arrive at the delivery time you choose. We deliver across Kendall, Kane, Will and DuPage counties.
Some guests have allergies or dietary restrictions. What do I do?
Tell us in advance. Our chefs prepare separate meals for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal or allergy-specific guests. There is a dietary notes box on every order.
Can you provide staff for my event?
Certainly. Our servers set up and maintain the buffet, clear tables, and break down and pack your leftovers. Staff is $35 per hour per server with a four-hour minimum, plus a 20% service charge shared with the whole team.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. Weddings take a 20% deposit of the estimated cost. Other events take 25%, paid online when you accept the quote. Deposits are non-refundable and are credited toward your balance, which is due seven days before the event.
