Office party catering: trays, platters and what it costs for 30

An office party for 30 from platters and trays runs about $454 with drinks and plates, before tax. What to order, when, and what to skip.

Mini croissant sandwiches on a catering tray

For office party catering, order platters and trays dropped off at the office. Food for 30 people from our platters runs $350, or $11.67 a person, and $454.40 with drinks and plates, before 9.25% sales tax. Drop-off and pick-up orders carry no service charge and trays have no minimum, so a small team pays only for what it eats.

A party for 30

This is a mix of finger food that works standing or at desks:

Food is $89 + $79 + $59 + $64 + $59 = $350. Add 30 Soft Drinks at $2.49: $74.70, and Disposable Appetizer Plates & Napkins at $0.99 a person: $29.70. Total $454.40, or $496.43 with 9.25% sales tax.

That is 320 pieces plus a veggie tray, which is enough for a party that replaces lunch. For a party after lunch, you can drop the sandwiches and save $89.

A sit-down lunch instead

If the party is lunch itself, a few alternatives:

Morning party

For a breakfast celebration, a Continental Breakfast is $11.99 a person, and a Basic Breakfast Buffet is $16.99 a person. Breakfast Trays are $69 and serve 20. See breakfast catering.

Holiday and retirement parties

For an end-of-year party or a send-off, add a dessert tray with something a bit fancier, like Chocolate Covered Strawberries, $69 for 35 to 40, or Cheesecake Squares, $59 for 35. For drinks, Coffee is $89 for 50 servings. We do not sell alcohol.

What to settle before you order

  • Count heads and ask about diets. Cold sandwiches and cheese cover most people. Fresh Vegetable Crudités are vegetarian and gluten-free.
  • Pick a delivery window, or a pick-up time. Delivery is quoted when you order.
  • Tell reception we are coming and where the food goes.
  • Ask about a receipt or a tax-exempt certificate if your office needs one.
  • If you need servers, that is a staffed event: 14 days' notice, $35 an hour each with a four-hour minimum, a $50 event production fee and a 20% service charge on food and rentals.
