Couples usually ask us this before anything else, so here it is without the runaround.
A buffet wedding for 150 guests on our Menu 3 (carved sirloin, chicken cordon bleu, salmon) is $19.99 per person, or $2,998.50 for the food. Add place settings at $1.50 per guest, chafers at $17 per hot dish, and staff at $35 per hour per server.
Staffed events carry a 20% service charge, which is the gratuity shared between your servers and everyone in the kitchen who prepped your day. There is a $50 event production fee and, if you want a carving station, a $150 carving fee.
All in, most 150-guest buffet weddings we cater land between $5,000 and $7,000 before tax. Plated service and passed hors d'oeuvres add to that; a drop-off buffet with no staff comes in well under.
